Join us for an evening of conversation and some music with rock and roll legend, Roger McGuinn. Jim McGuinn, later known as Roger, was already a veteran of the New York and Los Angeles music scene when he co-founded the group that would become The Byrds with Gene Clark and David Crosby in 1964. In January 1965, they recorded their first number one hit, “Mr. Tambourine Man.”

Roger McGuinn disbanded the Byrds in 1973 to pursue his dream of a solo career. He made five solo albums, then returned to his roots in folk, and began touring solo acoustic. His CD “Treasures From The Folk Den” was nominated for a Grammy in 2002 in the category of “Best Traditional Folk Album.”

Roger McGuinn’s CD, 22 Timeless Tracks From The Folk Den Project, will be available for sale at the event.

McGuinn will be in conversation with Kristine McKenna. She is a widely published critic and journalist who wrote for the Los Angeles Times from 1977 through 1998. Her profiles of artists and musicians and criticism have appeared in Artforum, The New York Times, Artnews, Vanity Fair, The Washington Post and Rolling Stone Magazine, and she was the recipient of a National Endowment Arts Administration grant in 1976. In 2001, a collection of her interviews, Book of Changes, was published and followed by a second volume of her interviews, Talk To Her, in 2004.
